Before beginning any exercise program, ask your doctor what types of exercise are most appropriate for you and which you should avoid based on your symptoms, fitness level, and overall health. Following is a very small sampling of a wide variety of exercise programs (arranged alphabetically by state or country) that you may want to try or learn about. Toll-Free Exercise helpline to talk with PT

Connect with a licensed physical therapist who can answer your exercise questions, tell you about exercise programs in your area, and send you exercise-related materials. Call the toll-free hotline at 888-606-1688 Mondays through Fridays from 9am to 3pm or email your questions to rehab@bu.edu. This National Resource Center for Rehabilitation is sponsored by the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) and Boston University.

Banner Neuro Wellness (coming soon!)

Banner Neuro Wellness will offer a “Safe Haven” of friendship, exercise, art, dance, education, and support. It is a state-of-the-art program complimentary to current medical treatments and therapies for individuals and families who are affected by Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions.

Assisted Cycling Tours

Assisted Cycling Tours (ACT) is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose goal is to open the world of cycling to people with developmental and/or physical disabilities. (Recommended by the Parkinson Association of the Rockies.)

Rock Steady Boxing

Rock Steady Boxing classes are taught by trainers who are certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Each trainer has his/her own experience in boxing as a competitor, as a trainer or have been trained by professional boxing coaches.

Boston University Community Wellness Program

The BU group exercise program gives you the tools to get started and the strategies to keep going. It includes an exercise program specifically designed for people with Parkinson's disease.

Location: Boston Massachusetts

Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape & Islands

RHCI's Parkinson's Disease Wellness Program features specific exercises to improve balance, walking, posture and speaking. Each session also includes education about strategies to enhance management of the disease and group discussion and support.

Dance for PD

Dance for PD® offers dance classes for people with Parkinson's disease in Brooklyn, New York and, through our network of partners and associates, in more than 40 other communities around the world.

Class locations are all over the US.

Rehabilitation & Wellness Clinic, Univ of Utah

The clinic is located in the Health Professions Education Building in Research Park at 520 Wakara Way. The Clinic also houses exercise and wellness programs for individuals with Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis and neurological injury, and diabetes. Dancing with Parkinson's

A Toronto dance class designed by Sarah Robichaud for those living with Parkinson's Disease that increases awareness of the body in stillness and motion. Come celebrate the spontaneity of movement through dance and live music. No previous dance experience required.

Victoria Epilepsy & Parkinson's Centre Society

The Victoria Epilepsy and Parkinson's Centre Society is a vibrant and welcoming non-profit society whose purpose is to strengthen clients', families' and communities' ability to manage the physical, psychological and social effects of Parkinson's and epilepsy.
